Electronics - Term 1, 2012
Outline: Electronic Techies (Senior Boys Y5/6)
Introduction to Electronic Components
Learning about batteries, resistors, diodes, LED's and capacitors.
Project 1
DSE FunWay Project 1 - Continuity Indicator
A simple circuit consisting of a battery, LED, diode, resistor and two wire probes. The projects builds a device for checking that there is a continuous electrical circuit between two points.
Project 2 - Deconstruct and reconstruct
Students will learn about components by removing components from old circuit boards and creating new circuits.
Skills; soldering, solder sucking, wire stripping and component identification.
Reference website: How to Solder
Project 3 -
DSE FunWay Project 6 - Electronic Siren
Build a circuit that creates a siren noise. Learn how transistors and capacitors work.
Special Project 4 -
The boys will choose a project that they wish to complete. They many work individually or in their current teams.
Some suggestions: Touch screen project - Build a infrared light pen to be use along side the wiimote. Make Your Own Printed Circuit Board - Watch the video
